Community Plan

Read over some of Robin Vildes creative/innovative ideas for a better and more beneficial City of Winnipeg for all.

A plan for a city that not only supports you but has your future in mind.

  • Enforce and strengthen existing bylaws to crackdown on owners of abandoned; residential, commercial and industrial properties to reduce blight and crime.

    Protect neighborhood character and long-term residents. By creating a policy that hinders private corporations from purchasing existing residential apartment buildings.

    Create a framework for community benefits from development to be considered, within the confines of the city charter.

  • Implement a community policing initiative to increase public safety and increase direct city support for homeless outreach services.

    Roll-out city wide crisis response services who are specifically equipped to handle mental health and wellness check related calls - under the 211-model implemented in other provinces.

    Invest in hiring more firefighters and paramedics, and maintain a WFPS station within old St. Boniface.

  • Demand investment into rail transit as part of the ongoing freight rail relocation study, with the goal of establishing the beginnings of a rapid rail transit system.

    Improve service during off peak times for Winnipeg transit and have services operate on a 24/7 basis. Allowing for the purchase of more buses, job creation and reduce road congestion in Winnipeg

    Push to cancel the extension of Chief Peguis Trail and the widening of Kenaston Blvd, and redirect funds towards affordable rail transit. While also focusing on actively maintaining existing infrastructure in our community.

Who is Robyn Vilde?

His Story

Coming from a background of corporate research and union organizing with the Hotels Workers Union [UNITE HERE Local 75]. Then later community work focused on better public transit and accessible housing in Toronto. Robyn moved to Winnipeg 6 years ago, seeking a place to put down roots and build a better life as the high cost of living had made it impossible to do so there. Since arriving Robyn has worked in Banking and Hospitality, and built a strong connection to the St. Boniface community. Having worked at the Norwood Hotel for 4 years. A staple in the St. Boniface community.
